Because Mocha Uson became the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2016 Ambassadress, a move to sabotage the MMFF was launched. After the announcement of her role as an ambassadress, a #boycottMMFF was used online to protest her participation. Other netizens posted disparaging hashtags like #MochangTanga to their posts.
@BromanceManila@naynab15 : i have decided to #boycottMMFF this year coz of Mocha. She cannot be legitimized, EVER!In response to the sabotage/boycott call, Mocha shot back saying, "(Kapag) binoycott n'yo ang MMFF hindi ako ang tatamaan. Wala akong [p]elikula diyan. Ang tatamaan ay ang mga artista, producers, direktor at iba pa. Hindi si (Pangulong) Duterte o ang MMDA ang tatamaan,".

She added, "Nandito ang gobyerno para tulungan ang Industriya ng Filipino Films. Nandito rin ako para i-promote lang. Kaya pag binoycott niyo ang MMFF dahil sa akin para na rin n'yong binoycott ang mga sarili n'yo dahil maraming mga artista, producers at directors diyan pareho ng paniniwala niyo,"
Uson has over 4 million followers on Facebook and that number of followers can definitely help the MMFF. Last December 21, 2016, Mocha Uson appeared in Malacañang and announced that she will help promote the MMFF through her social media accounts.
"Natural lang po na magkaroon ng bangayan sa social media pagdating sa iba’t ibang issue at mga opiniyon natin, ngunit pagdating po sa pagtulong sa ating bayan, dapat po tayong magkaisa," she told the press during the briefing at the palace.
To accomplish her role as an ambassadress for the MMFF, Uson posted the screening schedule of "Saving Sally" and the trailers for "Die Beautiful" and "Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 2".
